This week in Kindergarten
What a great week we had in Kindergarten! Students explored animals by categorizing a variety of animals into two groups: Domestic Animals (Les animaux domestiques) and Wild Animals (Les animaux sauvages). We discussed what these two types of animal groups meant and played a sorting game with a mixture of domestic and wild animals.
Continuing our conversation of animals, we discussed animal needs and what could happen if we don’t meet their needs, such as: love vs. no love, food vs. no food, shelter vs. no shelter, etc. Students reflected on how animals might feel in either scenario and even connected the zones of regulation to the animals (ex: if a dog had no food, they would feel sad because they were hungry).
We then decided to bring in our own special stuffies to school to present them to the class. We shared all different types of details on our stuffed animals, such as: their name (son nom est______), what they like to eat (il/elle aime manger ______), if they are domestic/wild animals (il/elle est un animal domestique/sauvage), etc.
After we had presented our special guests to the class, we engaged in a fun measuring activity where we used classroom materials such as blocks or dominoes to see how tall our stuffies were. Some students even compared their stuffies with each other and arranged them in order from tallest to shortest. Students carefully packed their stuffies back into their backpacks, and we said our goodbyes for the long weekend! What a great week in Kindergarten.
Alien in-Line Skating
From May 30 to June 17, Tuscany School students will have the opportunity to join in with in-line skating through the Alien In-Line Program! Please see our class schedules below. Alien In-line will provide protective gear for each student (knee pads, elbow pads, wrist guards, helmet) however for hygiene reasons it is encouraged that students bring their own helmet to school if possible on these day for use during the program. Bike, skateboard, and hockey helmets with a safety certification sticker attached (e.g. CSA, CPSC, ANSI, Snell B-95, ASTM F-1446 or F-1447) and in good condition are all acceptable. Students are also invited to bring in other protective gear (knee pads, elbow pads and wrist guards) and their own in-line skates if they would like. Please make sure that all equipment that is brought to school is clearly labelled with your child’s name on it. Please also ensure that your child is wearing socks on these days as they are required to participate in the in-line skating. We are also looking for volunteers to support our students during their Aline In-line classes. If you are interested in volunteering please sign up using this link.

- AM students will be split into two groups, so will have 6 dates, though students will only attend 3. I will be sharing group lists in the near future.
