This week in Kindergarten
In Kindergarten this week (and last) we have been working to complete our Monster Books that we sent home for our Celebration of Learning. Our Monster Books are the ‘Good Copy’ accumulation of several lessons and independent student work, inspired by the books “I Want A Monster” and “Je veux un monstre” both by Elise Gravel. Through several drawing opportunities, students have created their monster to include specific choices of antenna, hair, arms, legs, tails, and colours. Students then brainstormed things their monster would like to eat (some pretty GROSS things!) and then recorded their ideas in their learning journals by drawing images. We have also practiced sharing our books and learnings with you! Students partnered with peers to show off all they’ve created. We are SO EXCITED!
This week we’ve been practicing counting with accuracy, and writing our numerals. Students have loved using our mini-whiteboards to record and practice writing their numbers. Students applied this skill in their Monster Books by counting their monster’s body parts and writing about it.
Book Fair
Students have had the opportunity (or will have on Monday and Tuesday next week) to view the Book Fair! They will be coming home with flyers of the books and items that they’re excited about. Next week, students will be given the opportunity to shop and purchase at the book fair. If there is a specific book you would like them to purchase, please send it on a note with the payment included. You can also make purchases online and have items delivered to your house. Celebration of Learning
Today marks the beginning of Tuscany School’s Celebration of Learning! Over the next few days, please take some time to engage with your child(ren) in some of their learning.
We have sent a package home containing:
- a guide for the Celebration of Learning,
- your child’s monster book,
- a ribbon for our Ribbon Wishes activity.

French Immersion Reading Resource - Je lis, je lis, littératie!
Je lis is a fabulous online literacy resource for developing French language skills. It organizes books by levels to give readers accessibility to the language where they feel most comfortable. All French Immersion classes at Tuscany School have access to this website, and students are encouraged to explore books at a good level from them while at home.
Individual student login information was sent home this week for Kindergarten students (a white square paper). Information includes:
- Student usernames
- Student passwords
- Website for student login (http://jelis.rkpublishing.com/student)
