Bonjour! Hello! Oki! Kindergarten families,
This week in Kindergarten
We have had another busy week in Kindergarten! We have been exploring autumnal changes by observing colours around our environment and discussing other changes that happen in this season. Students collected leaves and used them to create leaf-rubbings with Autumn colours. As well, using the book “Red is Best” “Le rouge, c’est bien mieux” by Kathy Stinson, French Immersion students practiced the vocabulary of colours, and all students created mini-posters to share their favourite colours.
We have engaged students in deep conversation about Thanksgiving by having discussions about why we are thankful for all the wonderful aspects of our lives. Students made many lovely observations about the parts of their lives they appreciate - from loving family, to enjoying healthy meals, to engaging in games with friends, to appreciating being born - they have made very insightful reflections about why we celebrate Thanksgiving. On the back of their Autumn art pieces, students wrote to finish the sentence “I am thankful for…” “Je suis reconnaissant pour…” using their ideas about what they were grateful for.
Here are a few videos we have been loving to learn and move our bodies:

Our book recommendations:
Hallowe’en
We will be celebrating Hallowe’en by wearing costumes and creating our school pumpkin patch. Costumes are optional, but if worn please follow our school guidelines:
No violence, blood, gore, or weapons.
Hallowe’en masks do not replace COVID masks. Regular masks must still be worn.
If you wanted to send in a “treat” to share with our class, see the guidelines below:
NO FOOD items
Stickers, pencils, and other small items are great!
Pumpkinfest
As part of our Hallowe’en celebrations, we will be creating a pumpkin patch in the schoolyard (Pumpkinfest!) on Friday, October 29. Families are invited to carve a pumpkin at home, and bring it to school in the morning before school begins. At the end of the day (12:20-12:40 pm), parents are invited to view the pumpkin patch and collect their child’s pumpkin. We will be sending further information about this in the coming weeks.
Allergies
Please note the list of allergies identified in our classroom. Please ensure all snacks sent to school do not contain these items.
