This week in Kindergarten
This week, Tuscany School students kicked off their “Roll to School” activities! We have been discussing different ways to roll (bike, scooter, rollerblades, etc) and opportunities to get out and get active. We have been tracking our “rollers” each day and adding our name to the draw box. We are getting excited to pull a name out on June 10th as a winner of a prize pack!
We also have had some more excitement this week with the arrival of our caterpillars (chenilles!). We have been observing the caterpillars eating lots and growing bigger and bigger. Students noticed that the caterpillars are becoming a bit patterned with black and brown portions, so we decided to design our own patterned caterpillars using colours paper! There were so many wonderful designs with complex patterns such as ABBAC, ABCCC, and ABCDE. Everyone is so excited for the caterpillars to begin forming their chrysalis!
This week we have also been practicing some jumping skills during PE! Students designed their own hop skotch courses with single and double squares, and also participated in some hopping relay races using hoops and ropes! We will continue practicing these skills for the next couple weeks.
Last, but certainly not least, AM Kindergarten students were very excited this morning to have the chance to visit a Grade 1 classroom and teacher! They spent 30 minutes practicing for Grade 1 by engaging in some activities and conversation. As the month progresses, each Kindergarten class will have the chance to visit Grade 1, and we will begin supporting this transition for our youngest students.

Class Photo Retakes
Tuscany School will be doing retakes for all whole-class photos next Thursday, June 9. If you did not receive the first photo, please contact your child’s teacher, and we can send home a copy in their blue folder. All students will receive the retake class photo before the end of the school year.
June Scholastic Book Orders
We are sending home the June Scholastic flyer, and have linked the digital flyers in Google Classroom, as well as “how-to” guides for parents on how Scholastic Reading Club is used. Orders are placed online only, and if you use our classroom code, you can receive free shipping on orders of over $40.
This will be the final Scholastic order of this school year!
