Bonjour! Hello! Oki! Kindergarten families,

This week in Kindergarten

This first week of May was so great in Kindergarten! We discussed, created and celebrated so many things! We started off by sorting and discussing the differences and similarities between 2D and 3D shapes. Students recognized that 2D shapes were flat, and that 3D shapes were solid and had more dimensions!

We continued to explore 2D and 3D shapes this week at the Coulee, as well. We found different shapes in the Coulee that looked like common 2D shapes and 3D shapes that we had seen before in the classroom. We even used materials in the land to create our own 2D and 3D shapes. But, this was not the only adventure we had in the Coulee! We also showcased our journey in the coulee throughout all the seasons by creating land art patterns, as they are journeys, too. Thank you to our volunteers for joining us on Wednesday!

Since we were busy at the Coulee on Wednesday, we moved our discussion of “Hats on for Mental Health” to Thursday. During "Hats off for Mental Health" day, the students discussed ways of keeping our bodies and our brains healthy. We shared our feelings and discussed how we can talk about any feelings (good or bad!) and why we feel that way.

We also spent a bit of time this week preparing for Mother’s Day! We discussed how this day can be for celebrating our own moms, as well as any other important women in our lives - like grandmothers, aunts, cousins, sisters, etc. Happy Mother’s Day to our Kindergarten families!

Lastly, PM students ended the week by working on our food superheroes project! We reminded ourselves about how the food groups make us Glow, Grow, and Go (pétiller, pousser, et partir), then designed a food superhero using elements of a superhero!

Bike/Walk to School

From May 30 - June 10, Tuscany School families are encouraged to bike or walk to/from school to stay healthy and active! Even joining in for a day or two makes a difference. Making this choice and engaging in discussion about why, has a positive impact on our perspectives on making healthy choices in our lives.

Alien In-Line Skating

From May 30 - June 17, students will be participating in an exciting in-line skating program in the gym with Alien In-Line! Please make sure that students are dressed appropriately (wearing comfortable pants) and always pack a full water bottle.
