This week in Kindergarten
This week we welcomed Mrs. Laser back! The students in Mrs. Thouret’s class have been looking forward to meeting Mrs. Laser, and this week has been a lovely transition time, getting to know each other. Mrs. Thouret will remain at Tuscany School next week, and will be leading Parent/Teacher conferences next week on the 10th and 11th. Mrs. Thouret’s last day at Tuscany School will be Friday, March 11th.
We were able to welcome March this week in a special way! We had a spectacular show put on by the Grade 4/5 French Immersion students at Tuscany School. The play “The Gingerbread Man” was led by our music teacher, Ms. Miller., and the older students were so excited to share it with our classes!
This week is our Celebration of Learning/Célébration d’Apprentissage! Students are so excited to share their special “My Learning Booklet”/ “Mon livret de mon apprentissage” with you. They have worked hard all week to demonstrate everything they have learned on counting numbers, both forwards and backwards, identifying all the ways that we belong, sharing our land acknowledgment, sorting shapes, and identifying letter sounds. Hard copies are shared today in the students' blue folders, as well as a digital copy that is readily available online in our Google Classrooms. If you have any questions, please feel free to email your child's teacher. Enjoy watching all the fascinating things your child has learned so far this year!
This Friday and last Friday, both of Mme Smyth’s classes have had a chance to try snowshoeing (des raquettes)! We refined our fine motor skills to fasten and undo the buckles of the snowshoes, and practiced our coordination and gross motor skills by navigating snowy pathways in our raquettes. Some students with prior experience took on leadership roles to support their peers with their snowshoes, and those who were new to the sport had a wonderful first experience. It was an exciting outing for everyone!
Celebration of Learning
Yesterday and today we sent home our Celebration of Learning packages. Inside you will find the Parent Guide and learning information, Music activity, and your child’s learning booklet. If your child was absent, your package will be sent home upon their return to school. We are planning to use the activities from the Celebration of Learning to guide some of our discussions around your child’s learning for Parent/Teacher Conferences. If you can please try to have all activities completed before your P/T Conference meeting time, that would be greatly appreciated!
If your child has been absent for an extended period, they will not have yet had the opportunity to fully engage in this activity.
Please ensure that you return the Learning Booklet on Monday, March 14th.
School Conferences
Please refer to the email sent out previously from school administration regarding the link to sign-up for your child’s conference. The virtual link for the conference will be sent to you once you have registered. Please see the table below for opportunities to meet with your child’s teacher. Registration begins tomorrow morning at 10 AM.

Headphones/Earbuds
Thanks to everyone who has already sent LABELED headphones/earbuds to school! As we continue to develop our early literacy skills in class (including French vocabulary), we are looking to begin using audiobooks to support our learning. We are asking that parents send to school with their child a pair of headphones or earbuds in a ziplock bag that is labeled with their name. If there are any questions/issues around this, please don’t hesitate to reach out as we will do our best to accommodate different needs.
