Bonjour! Hello! Oki! Kindergarten families,

This week in Kindergarten

This week has been full of new activities, learning, and fun! We are so grateful for the continued diligence our students and families have shown this week in keeping our school and classroom safe! As you know, on January 19th/20th, our school handed out a box of Rapid Antigen Tests for COVID-19 and 20 masks per child. If your child was absent these days, they will receive these resources upon return to school. As always, please reach out if you have any questions/comments or concerns.

Kindergarten students had the chance this week to experience a virtual storytelling of Napi & The Rock hosted by The Calgary Public Library in partnership with the Making Treaty 7 Cultural Society and the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra. Please feel free to watch the performance at https://calgaryphil.com/napi-and-the-rock/ (this is also linked in Google Classroom).

French Immersion students have been focused lately on exploring explicit phonics sounds, using “La planète des alphas!” They have practiced listening, reading, and speaking with all vowel sounds (a, o, i, y, e/é, u) using games and songs. Students have watched an introductory video on “la planète des alphas” which you can watch here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qrxIsxl6sWw&t=904s (this is also linked in Google Classroom).

Tuscany School students are still loving their time with Mista J from Sound Kreations dance residency! Kindergarten students have now completed their “Ghostbusters” routine, and are encouraged to practice at home with their friends and families. They will have a few more practices this week before their big performance. We can’t wait to see the big reveal as they’ve been working so hard!

The Merry Widow, Calgary Opera Dress Rehearsal Invite
