We cannot believe how quickly the end of September has come! How has time flown by so fast?! Although it has only been a few weeks, we can already see how much the students have learned and how well they are adapting to their new environment.
The following will highlight our updates, information and reminders for this week:
Virtual Open House
Thank you so much for participating in our virtual open house! It was so nice to see and hear from all of you. If there are any questions following the open house that we were not able to answer, please feel free to contact us by email.
Learning Commons Visits and Books
Once a week our classroom will be visiting our school's learning commons. They will be able to borrow books and take them home to share with their families. We ask that students return their library books the day prior so that we are prepared to exchange our books the next day. Please keep your library book in the Ziploc bag provided.

National Day of Truth and Reconciliation
Thursday, September 30, 2021 will mark the inaugural National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. There will be NO SCHOOL. This day was created to remember and honour the more than 150,000 Indigenous children taken by Canada’s Indian residential school system, including the thousands who never returned home. It is also a day to reflect on the impact the residential school system has had on Indigenous families, communities and Nations, while seeking deeper truth about the colonial history of Canada overall. Next week, September 27th - September 29th, we will be wearing Orange to honour the survivors of the residential school system.
EYE-TA
Throughout the next few weeks at school, we will be completing the Early Years Evaluation - Teacher Assessment (EYE-TA) at school within our Kindergarten classrooms. The EYE will provide information about each child’s development and early learning. This assessment helps teachers organize instruction and monitor each child’s progress in school. We will be discussing your child’s information from the EYE in our November learning conferences. If you have any questions regarding the EYE, please contact me via email.

This Week In Kindergarten
This week we have continued our number journey with the number two! We are practicing showing, making, and writing (word & numeral). Some ways that you can support your child’s numeracy learning at home would include pointing out & noticing numbers in your environment: house number, street, price, telephone, etc.
We are also continuing our journey with the alphabet: the letter Bb. We are practicing our letter formations, as well as identifying words and names that start with the letter Bb. Ways to practice at home: finger painting, writing it in the air with your finger, tracing letters in the books you’re reading, spotting the letter (and counting how many) while reading on a single page.
