Please follow along with our blog to keep up-to-date with what is going on in our classroom this year!
We are focusing this month on routines! We are working on becoming independent members of the classroom community. We have discussed and signed a Classroom Rules Agreement (Je suis gentil. Je suis patient. Je peux aider. I am kind. I am patient. I can help.). These rules may grow as the year progresses, but we will reinforce these basics to support personal growth and peer relationships.
How to support your child with independence/routines:
- Discuss what they will do FIRST and LAST on their school day.
- Give reminders about special classes for each day (see below).
- Practice our snack routine: wash hands, eat, clean-up, sanitize (see below).
- Practice packing/unpacking their backpack.
I CAN's we are working on this month:
I CAN:
- separate from parents/caregivers/guardians willingly when in familiar and comfortable situations.
- follow the rules and routines of familiar environments: classroom, school, library.
- follow one- or two-step instructions.
- find ways to be helpful to others.
- print my own name.
- take turns in activities and discussions.
Snack routine extras:
- Students should be able to open and access their snack independently. So, please support your child to practice opening their containers, wrappers, and cups. *If your child is unable to complete this task independently, we ask that you put the snack in a container they can open easily.
- Aim for a "clean snack" that creates no garbage waste.
- Limit sweets - this helps our little bodies to stay regulated throughout our learning and playing times.
